Deel and Fuckup Nights connect HR leaders to talk about failures, create community and share learnings in a safe space.
When we think of Human Resources, we often picture the people with all the answers—the ones guiding layoffs, managing crises, and shaping cultures. But… who hears their stories? Who gives them space to fail?
At Fuckup Nights, we knew the answer: they need a safe space too. So, together with Deel we made it happen.
We created a special edition of Get Fired with Deel, in which we gathered more than 30 leaders of corporate companies (with more than 1,000 employees) in CDMX, with the support of Cristiano Soares and Alejandra Niño from Deel, and moderated by Pepe Villatoro, CEO of Fuckup Nights.
The venue was Flexoffices México and the result: an intimate, authentic and completely honest space to learn from failure.
Deel wanted to connect with HR leaders from large enterprises, to demonstrate the value of their global hiring and payment platform. They saw the unique potential in Fuckup Nights and its community to spark real, authentic engagement.
Together, we designed a customized Get Fired experience tailored to Enterprise HR executives, with a clear mission:
“Use the power of Fuckup Nights’ reach and community—plus its disruptive concept—to create an honest, in-depth conversation around global hiring and payroll solutions.”
The speakers of this edition were Hugo Torres People & Culture Head at Tramontina, and Rosario Haydeé Terrazas Payán HRBP at Chubb.
Hugo shared how the company’s explosive growth led to a chain of rushed hires, reactive decisions, and disengaged talent. What began as an inspiring vision quickly turned into frustration as the team struggled to maintain the growth without a solid structure.
“The person left, and we were stuck with the problem. There was no commitment, and the decisions just led to more frustration.”
Rosario opened up about a failed tech migration—messy supplier coordination, internal and external teams misaligned, and an app that simply didn’t work in testing or real life.
“We had two failed attempts. The app didn’t work. Not in testing, not in the field. The internal impact was much bigger than we expected.”
After the talks, the room shifted into a type of networking rarely seen at corporate events. Attendees gathered to share reflections and build a new kind of support system—a community of leaders learning together.
There was a strong desire to keep this going long-term ❤️.
In the words of Laiza Ruiz Damián (IBM):
“It’s my first time at one of these events, and the disruptive concept plus the human essence behind it make it truly unique.”
Attendees connected from a rarely visited place: vulnerability. And as Ileana Castro, Head of People at Fuckup Nights, put it:
“The stories were incredible. Thank you, Deel, for supporting HR teams with tools—and community.”
Cristiano Soares and Alejandra Niño, from the partnerships team at Deel, saw the opportunity to reach HR Executives with an authentic narrative.
Fuckup Nights helped Deel to use vulnerability as a bridge. The goal was simple: Present their solution in a space of value and learning, by sharing real challenges that impact HR operations across companies.
"It was a completely different way to present Deel - not through selling, but through connection. That’s where the real value lies." - Pepe Villatoro, CEO of Fuckup Nights
This event wasn’t just a one-off—it marked the beginning of something bigger: a community of HR leaders ready to leave fear behind and speak honestly about what doesn’t go well.
As Rosario said:
"In HR... things go wrong too. And we grow from each fall—with the right attitude."
And as Juan Guillermo Ruiz Botero of Deel summarized:
“We learn so much more when we dare to talk about mistakes than when we hide behind ego and the illusion of infallibility!”
We can bring Get Fired to your company—with curated speakers, transformative storytelling, and a safe environment to share, learn, and connect through failure.
