Finnosummit: Vulnerability in the Fintech World

Together with Mastercard, we had the opportunity to bring Fuckup Nights to Finnosummit 2024 for the second consecutive year, the largest event for the Fintech community in Latin America.

Finnosummit annually gathers the best companies in the financial technology sector, entrepreneurs, investors, and financial leaders.

During this event, attendees listened to three stories from Fintech entrepreneurs, who not only shared their failures but also sparked critical and transformative discussions.

On stage, our speakers had a space to be vulnerable and present themselves as human beings in front of more than 200 Fintech and banking executives, sharing their entrepreneurial failure stories.

The Art of Pivoting in Business

This year, the focus was on the crucial skill of knowing when to pivot in business.

‍We often hear the question, "How do I know when it's time to give up and start over?"

The speakers emphasized how crucial it is to:

  • Surround ourselves with people willing to challenge us with different perspectives.
  • Actively listen to them.
  • Make decisions not from a fear of making mistakes, but from a place of abundance and opportunity, not from a scarcity mindset.

Additionally, they shared their challenges, failures, and personal experiences, promoting an open and sincere space for dialogue and learning. Revealing moments in their lives that marked turning points in their businesses, and renewed their strategic direction.

Impact and Testimonials from the Speakers

Pedro Moura, co-founder and CEO of Flourish Fi, shared his experience at the event in tears:

"Once I cried in front of more than 200 fintech and banking executives. It was a humble and powerful experience that generated great connections and deep learning."

Santiago Lorenzo, co-founder of Menta, also shared his experience at the event:

"We had the honor of giving a talk at the Fuckup Nights space, where we opened up and with Virginia Folgueiro we told all our mistakes, how we learned from them and came out stronger than ever to manage to build the best collections solution!"

Conclusion: A Catalyst for Change

Over the years, the collaboration between Finnosummit and Fuckup Nights has proven to be a catalyst for initiating crucial conversations that drive change within the Fintech community.

By providing a safe space to discuss failures and learn from them, a culture of resilience and adaptability is promoted, fostering more human and meaningful connections.

We close with the words of Pedro Moura at our event:

‍Let's belike children again, and practice every day the ability to fall and get up, to do things differently, learning and evolving along the way.‍
‍Ifwe don't have the ability to get back up, we probably won't have the courage to try.
