An honest and moving special edition, created to honor motherhood through imperfection and authenticity, alongside BBVA.
Over 500 women gathered in Mexico City to celebrate motherhood from a new angle: authenticity.
We organized the “Perfectly Imperfect Motherhood” for BBVA , an event that did more than just honor the mothers working at the bank. It opened space for real, emotional, and deep conversations about what it truly means to be a mom today.
Three speakers took the stage and shared personal stories that challenged the audience’s perspective on motherhood—stories about difficult decisions, personal failures, and what they’ve learned as mothers, professionals, and leaders.
Gaby took the entire audience on a journey through "stepmotherhood," a term she reclaimed and redefined throughout her story.
She spoke about resilience, chosen love, and something we all carried home:
“You can’t mother or lead if you don’t understand your emotions and know how to move through them.”
His talk was so powerful that it completely moved the audience to tears.
Mercedes reminded us that making hard choices—even painful ones—is also part of leadership. She shared how her divorce became a turning point to reconnect with herself outside of the “successful woman” narrative.
He also shared an epic advice with the audience:
“If you're a woman, NEVER take the meeting notes. Take your seat at the table and act like it.”
Ruth shared what drives her as a mother every day, and how she’s balancing life in a new country alongside a growing career.
Her story was a reminder that leadership is about coherence and love, and that family decisions can be collective. One phrase from her story resonated strongly with the audience:
“We say we don’t want kids, but we do want teams. I’m not sure where I’ve learned more—probably both.”
The testimonials after the event showed us its true impact on the audience. Days later, Ruth received messages from colleagues who had finally released limiting beliefs—or felt, for the first time, like they had permission to choose differently.
Every comment confirmed something powerful to the speakers and the organizers: we were able to impact people's lives.
Ana Cecilia Valdés , who led the collaboration from BBVA, shared that this event was born from a personal need—to break out of the comfort zone and build a space where being a mother doesn’t mean giving up professional ambition.
“Where shame dies, inspiration is born.” – Ana Cecilia Valdés
This wasn’t just a celebration of motherhood. It became a defining moment for many women in the audience, reminding us why we create these spaces in the first place—with gratitude and purpose.
As Ruth Valdés shared with us:
“I’m constantly inspired by the way women lead. It’s a no-brainer to hire someone with top multitasking skills, bravery, and the ability to create safe spaces. Like a mom.”
This special edition was an honest invitation to drop the perfection, embrace the pain, and dare to share it. It proved that when companies listen and co-create with their people, the impact is transformational.
In Ana Cecilia’s words:
“The path isn't about perfection—it’s about authenticity, loyalty to yourself, and a healthy dose of humor.”
Pepe Villatoro , CEO of Fuckup Nights and moderator of the event, summed it up perfectly:
“BBVA broke the mold. They brought three incredible women on stage who, through their challenges and resilience, showed us how to choose what truly moves you—without abandoning your goals (whether that’s being a mom, starting a business, or becoming a CEO).”
That was “Perfectly Imperfect Motherhood”: a space where moms embraced vulnerability to empower and inspire others.
Our collaboration with BBVA reminded us how lucky we are to create spaces that make a difference.
This experience is proof that we grow together by being vulnerable, imperfect, and full of dreams—just like Ceci said.
Let's co-create a unique experience for your team.
