Falabella and Fuckup Nights created a space where failure connected teams and leaders with real learning.
During Grupo Falabella’s Talent Day learning and inspiration took center stage through a series of workshops, talks, networking spaces, and exhibitions—each designed to boost professional development and uncover new growth opportunities.
Fuckup Nights partnered with the Falabella team to create something different: a space that was honest, human, and refreshingly real. A private event where failure and vulnerability became powerful tools for connection.
This experience, part of the "Yo impulso mi desarrollo con Falabella" program , was designed to allow leaders and team members to share their most meaningful failures—and the lessons that transformed them. As Eric Jiménez, General Manager at Fuckup Nights and coordinator of the experience, said: " "Empathy within teams builds much faster when we allow ourselves to connect in a genuine, human way."
The session was moderated by Pablo Collada (Communication & Social Impact), who opened with a message perfectly aligned with Falabella’s agile and collaborative culture:
“For our teams to be agile, the least we can do is make sure they feel safe asking for help.”
This approach reflects one of the core values of the organization: fostering talent through continuous feedback and building relationships based on trust.
The heart of the conversation focused on normalizing failure as a tool for collective learning —challenging the idea that “you can’t learn from someone else’s mistakes.”
Valery shared a story about launching an app under pressure. Rushing to go live led to prioritizing a shallow benefit (free delivery) and targeting the wrong customer base. Without a clear value proposition, the project never took off.
Her key takeaways for the audience:
“Today, less than 0.5% of users are using the app... If we bring it back, it’ll be with everything we’ve learned—and with a clear value proposition.”
From his position in Talent & Culture, Alfredo emphasized the importance of long-term thinking—and not leaving anyone behind.
His story reminded everyone that growth is not an individual journey, but a shared one—and that resilience is key in navigating the business landscape.
With a background in retail and banking, Feña shared how crisis moments reveal both character and culture:
He closed with a phrase that describes his philosophy of life:
“If we’re going to make mistakes, let’s make sure they’re new ones.”
Throughout Talent Day, the speakers’ stories reflected Falabella’s DNA: working as one team, developing talent, and responding to challenges with agility.
They also shared their experience working with the Fuckup Nights team during the preparation process:
“I didn’t imagine this could be so much fun from start to finish,” shared Valery Vasquez.
Fernanda Vargas thanked the team for “all the support throughout the process”. She highlighted the power of telling her story in such a unique and fun format.
" To innovate means taking risks, embracing mistakes as part of the journey, and applying what you’ve learned to move forward with clarity and purpose.,” said Eric Jiménez.
From sessions on artificial intelligence, leadership, and high-impact presentations to a live podcast, Talent Day was all about learning by doing—and continuing to move forward. 🚀
Fuckup Nights brought a unique element to the event: a safe space to acknowledge that failure is part of the path to innovation.
This collaboration demonstrated that, at Falabella, simplifying and enjoying life more also means creating honest, human environments—where learning is collective and challenges make us stronger.
