FEMSA and Fuckup Nights create safe spaces to talk about failure and strengthen leadership through vulnerability.
"Failure is no longer a stigma—it's pure value. Without it, there's no iteration, no pivoting, no unicorns."
That's how Luis Fernando Ramírez— member of Fuckup Nights' Brain Trust and Sustainability Manager at FEMSA — opened an intimate private event that brought together more than 80 legal and corporate affairs professionals from across Latin America.
The mission: To talk about failure—openly, honestly, and without judgment.
FEMSA and Fuckup Nightshave shared a long-standing passion: creating more human, resilient workplace cultures.
From supporting early editions of the movement to championing initiatives like the Institute of Failure, FEMSA has consistently embraced difficult but necessary corporate conversations.
This private session, focused on the legal team, was curated by Miranda Campos and Eugenia Roberta Del Real. They understood that behind every protocol, clause, or contract... There are people. And creating spaces of vulnerability can reshape not only the organizational culture, but also how teams lead from within.
"A good in-house lawyer doesn't just put out fires—they install smoke detectors."
Javier broke the ice with humor, brutal honesty, and memes. He shared the story of a failed data escalation during a key project—how it led to sleepless nights, anxiety, and fears of losing his academic sponsorship (and everything else going on in his life at the time).
Key takeaways from Javier's story:
Camila shared her story of leading a legal contingency in Brazil—one that ultimately ended in a lost case, despite having top experts involved. She reflected on the emotional weight of guilt and the resilient required to keep moving forward.
Key takeaways from Camila's story:
"Talking about failure isn't easy—especially in the corporate world, where we're used to celebrating only victories. Vulnerability doesn't weaken us. On the contrary, it strengthens our teams and reminds us that excellence also includes detours." – Camila, via LinkedIn.
One of the most memorable moments? The open mic session. Any attendee could step up and share their story of failure. But no one expected Roberto Campa,FEMSA's Director of Corporate Affairs, to take the mic.
Unscripted and unfiltered, Roberto's story wasn't just surprising—it was sincere. A leader sharing vulnerability in front of his entire team sent a powerful message:
At FEMSA, vulnerability is also a form of leadership.
By the end of the event, the feedback survey clearly reflected the impact these stories had on the audience. It wasn't just an emotional and authentic evening—it was an experience that reshaped how the team views failure and vulnerability:
"These conversations are essential if we want more human teams, more honest cultures, and more conscious leaders." – Luis Fernando Ramírez.
This event with FEMSA proved that when we create authentic spaces—where failures are no longer a source of shame but tools for growth—we build stronger teams, more human leaders, and more resilient organizational cultures.
Our private events demonstrate to teams that authentic leadership is built on mistakes, tough decisions, and a great deal of resilience.
If you're ready to create a space where your people can speak without fear, connect through vulnerability, and learn from failure with honesty— lwe're here to make it happen.
