What to expect from our Psychological Safety online course

The idea of a workplace where you can freely share ideas, take risks, and be yourself sounds fantastic. And for good reason. Psychological safety is an excellent starting point for bringing out the full potential of any work team.

In this article, we describe the main topics covered in our online course on Psychological Safety and the situations in which this course may be a good fit for your organization.

Spaces that foster psychological safety in the office

Psychological safety is a gradual process that depends on various behaviors and the work environment in which people operate. It is important to understand how it can reshape work teams based on their behavior. In this lesson of the online course, you will learn about the different levels of psychological safety and how, based on this, work teams can be transformed.

Vulnerability and transparency in the workplace

Vulnerability as a trait has been socially constructed as a negative and even shameful emotion—something to be avoided, repressed, or eliminated from our vocabulary, and worse, from our behavior.

In this module, we will explore the benefits of vulnerability in the workplace and the crucial role that transparency plays. Students will examine the effects of vulnerability at work and the consequences of mistrust within teams. This section of the online course also includes an analysis of transparency and clarity in the workplace, as well as the impact of ego, leadership style, and personal reputation on teamwork.

Avoiding Psychological Hazards in the Workplace

In this module of the online course on psychological safety, we define what psychological safety is, what its consequences are, and what it looks like in the workplace.

We can assure you that fear in the workplace is a sign of a work culture that has not prioritized psychological safety. The silence of the people who make up a team reflects a lack of motivation and a desire to protect themselves.

We also discuss ways to prevent and address these issues by fostering an environment of trust and implementing DEI&A programs within the company, along with effective communication and transparency, among other strategies you’ll learn about during the course ;)

Creating psychologically safe spaces

In this module of the online course, you will learn about the importance of creating an ideal work environment and discover some tools for fostering psychological safety in the workplace.

The first step in creating spaces of psychological safety is to understand this concept and give it the importance it deserves. Through this online course, you will come to realize that the real challenge lies in putting what you learn into practice and creating opportunities for that to happen.

In addition to understanding the concepts of vulnerability, transparency, trust, and communication, it is also necessary to put them into practice through good habits that can be incorporated into daily life. Good habits are the shared responsibility of everyone on the team.

When is our Psychological Safety online course NOT a good fit for your organization?

  • You’re looking for an online course that’s tailored specifically to your team’s needs

We can’t fully understand your company and its culture in just a couple of weeks. However, we offer the tools and strategies that are most relevant and applicable to the day-to-day operations of an organization, based on ten years of experience working with companies across a wide range of industries. We can gain an in-depth understanding of your organization through The Failure Survey as part of The Failure Program.

  • You or your team aren't interested in a self-directed approach.

Each participant chooses a pace that best fits their schedule, so there’s a lot of self-discipline involved for each 10-minute module and the final “test.”

  • You and your team aren't interested in learning the psychology behind your interactions

During the online course, students learn about the warning signs of psychological vulnerability and the importance of creating safe and healthy work environments. We provide clear and concise information about the different types of vulnerabilities—emotional, cognitive, and physical. Students also learn how torecognize and manage stressful situations in the workplace.

In conclusion …

Psychological safety creates an environment where employees feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of negative consequences, such as retaliation or ridicule. A psychologically safe workplace enhances job satisfaction, talent retention, and employee engagement, which leads to higher productivity. Ultimately, a workplace that values psychological safety prioritizes the well-being of its employees.

We offer other online courses designed to foster what we call a "culture of failure":
